Remove discriminatory phrases from job ads

Jason alerted TAFEP of a private school’s job advertisement for lecturers that appeared on an online job portal. The advertisement was for a lecturing position in Singapore and specified a race and language requirement for that position. The employer did not provide an explanation for why the requirements were included in the job advertisement.

Jason was thanked for his feedback and TAFEP alerted the online job portal involved who quickly removed the posting. TAFEP also contacted the employer who said he was not aware of the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices. Following discussion, both the job portal and the private school apologised for the job ad posting which had caused offence and agreed to follow the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices moving forward.
